NOTIFICATION: In the year 1999, Karnataka embarked on a major reform of the power sector. As a first step, Karnataka Electricity Board (KEB) was dissolved and in its place, the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) was incorporated. This was followed by the constitution of Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) in November 1999. In the next phase of the reform process, the transmission and distribution business managed by KPTCL was unbundled in June 2002. Four new distribution companies were formed to distribute power in Karnataka. Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company Limited (GESCOM) has taken over the responsibility from KPTCL for the distribution of electricity in 6 districts and commenced its operations from 1st June 2002. The company has successfully entered into 11th year of operation. Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company Limited (GESCOM) invites 2nd time online application for the recruitment of 235 vacant posts of Assistant Lineman from Indian residents who are eligible & interested; candidates can apply through online application up to 16-07-2014.

1. General candidate: 88 Posts.

5. Project Displacement Candidate: 05 Posts.
B- Lineman/ Electrician: 88 Posts (Male/ Female)-
1. General candidate: 46 Posts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION: As per given details-
ITI CANDIDATES: A passed of certificate of 18/24 months course in “Electrician/ Electronics/ Electronic Mechanic” trade from Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) recognized by Government of Karnataka and must have knowledge of Kannada in reading and writing, normal eye sight, satisfactory physical fitness and will have to qualify in the Endurance Test.
ITC CANDIDATES: A passed of 10th class or its equivalent qualification and must have a pass certificate of 3 years “Lineman trade”/“Electrician trade” (ITC) imparted by the Industrial Training Institutes of KEB/KPTCL and must have knowledge of Kannada in reading and writing, normal eye sight, satisfactory physical fitness and will have to qualify in the Endurance Test.
NOTE: Candidates possessing qualification in other disciplines/branches other than what is specified above need not to apply.
MINIMUM PERCENTAGE OF MARKS REQUIRED FOR APPLY:
a- 60% marks: General category candidates.
b- 55% marks: IIA, IIB, IIIA & IIIB category candidates.
c- Only Pass marks SC/ST & category –I candidates.
REQUIRED AGE: Candidate’s age must be in between 18 years and 35 years as on closing date.
AGE RELAXATION: Relaxation in age is applicable for reserved category candidates as per Govt. Rules.
REQUIRED FEE: An amount of General Rs. 400/- as an application fee to be paid by General & Category-I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB and Rs. 200/- by SC/ ST category candidates through using Net Banking option, any Bank ATM cum Debit card, Internet Banking.

Candidates can also pay the Application fee using Off Line i.e., pay by Challan form at any Branches of the State Bank of India up to 16-07-2014.

POST RESERVATION: Reservation is applicable for Scheduled caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC) and Ex Serviceman candidates.
SELECTION PROCEDURE: Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance of various test given by candidates as per given programme-
1- Assistant Lineman will be selected strictly on merit, based on the marks secured in the Qualifying Examination only.
2- Eligible candidates will be called for Endurance Test in the ratio of 1:5.
3- Medical Examination will be conducted by the competent Medical officer during the endurance test and the candidate must have satisfactory physical fitness.
4- Endurance test will be conducted in the given events-
a- 100 meters Running - 14 seconds.
b- Skipping - 50 times in one minute.
c- Shot put 12 pounds - 8 meters throw in 3 chances.
d- Climbing of Electric Pole - 8 meters height (compulsory).
e- 800 meters running - 3 minutes.

Candidates must keep a hard copy of online submitted application form which will be required to be brought by the candidate if called for at the time of other part of selection along with all original documents with spare sets of attested photocopies of all certificates.
