NOTIFICATION: West Bengal Staff Selection Commission (WBSSC), Kolkata, invites online/offline Recruitment Applications for the direct recruitment of 185 vacant posts of Fire Engine Operator-cum-Driver from Indian residents who are eligible & interested; candidates can apply online/offline at official website up to 19-12-2014.

POST WISE DETAILS: 185 posts of Fire Engine Operator-cum-Driver- Gen—101, SC—41, ST—11, BC (A)—19, BC (B)—13.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION: A passed of Class VIII from recognized Board and must have valid heavy vehicle driving license with minimum 5 years experience of driving.
PAY SCALE: Rs.7100 — Rs.37600/- + Grade Pay: Rs.3200/- per month.
REQUIRED AGE: Applicant’s required age should be in between of 18 years - 32 years as on 01-01-2014.
AGE RELAXATION: Relaxation in age is applicable for reserved category candidates as per Govt. Rules.
PHYSICAL STANDARDS: Height – 5 feet 2.5 inches; Chest (unexpanded/ expanded)—32 inches/ 34 inches.
REQUIRED FEE: Candidates applying online or offline have to pay Application Fee of Rs.200/- and Processing Fee of Rs.20/-, i.e in total Rs.220/-. Whereas SC/ST candidates must pay Processing Fee of RS.20/- only. There is no Examination Fee for SC/ST candidates.
Candidates applying Online shall pay the above prescribed fee through Online Mode using Debit/Credit Card or Net Banking during submission of online application form.
Candidates applying OFFLINE have to pay the Application Fee through Post Offices having E-Payment facility. This facility is available almost in every Post Office of West Bengal. The concerned Post Office will give a receipt against deposit of examination/processing fee which must be pasted on the Application form at the space provided.
SC/ST candidates of other States will be treated as General candidates hence such candidates must pay fee in full.
POST RESERVATION: Reservation is applicable for Scheduled caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), Persons with Disabilities (PWD), Ex-Servicemen (ESM) candidates.
SELECTION PROCEDURE: Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in written Examination, skill test and interview. Selection of the candidates will be carried by West Bengal Staff Selection Commission. If the number of applicants applying for the vacancies is less then Commission may conduct Driving Test followed by Interview but if the number of applicant is large then Commission may also conduct Written Examination for screening purpose. In that case candidates who will qualify the written test will be called further for Driving test and Interview.
