ABOUT: Himachal Pradesh attained statehood on 25th January, 1971. Prior to this date, the function of Public Service Commission in respect of the civil services and posts in connection with the affairs of the Union Territory of Himachal Pradesh were being discharged by the Union Public Service Commission under Article 315 of the Constitution of India. It was, therefore, incumbent on the State to have its own Public Service Commission. However, since a State Public Service Commission could be constituted simultaneously with the attainment of Statehood, the Union Public Service Commission, on a request from the Governor of the State of Himachal Pradesh with the approval of the President of India, agreed to serve the needs of Himachal Pradesh till the establishment of a Public Service Commission for the State or for a period of three months from 25th January, 1971 whichever was earlier. The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (Members) Regulations, 1971 were notified by the Governor of Himachal Pradesh on 8th April, 1971 by virtue of the power vesting in him under Article 318 of the Constitution of India.

3. Lecturer, Class-I (Gazetted) (on Contract basis): A passed of Bachelor Degree in Ayurveda. Post Graduate Degree in particular branch of speciality. Applicants must have studied Sanskrit as one of the subjects in the course of Bachelor Degree in Ayurveda.
4. Designated Officer, Class-I (Gazetted) (Non- Ministerial) (on Contract basis): A passed of Bachelor's degree in Science with Chemistry as one of the subjects or at least one of the education qualifications prescribed for the post of Food Safety Officer.
5. Deputy Director, Sainik Welfare, Class-I (Gazetted) (on Contract basis): Applicants must be a retired / released Ex-Indian Army Commissioned officer of the rank of Colonel/ Lt. Colonel/ Major/ Captain or equivalent status of the Indian Navy/ Air Force.

If a class /division is not awarded, minimum of 60% marks in aggregate shall be considered equivalent to first class/ division.
9. Principal: A passed of Ph. D Degree (with first class either at Bachelor's or Master's level in the appropriate branch of specialization in Pharmacy with 10 years experience in Teaching / Industry/ Research out of which 05 years must be at level of Professor or equivalent.
10. Veterinary Officer, Class-I (Gazetted) (on Contract basis): A passed of a degree of B.V. Sc. and A.H. (Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry) from a recognized University as laid down under the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 (Act No.52 of 1984). Should be registered with the State Veterinary Council Act, 1984 (Act No.52 of 1984).
11. Assistant Engineer (Executive Trainee- Electrical), Class-I (on Contract basis): A passed of full time B.E. / B. Tech. (Electrical) and B.E./ B. Tech. (Electrical and Electronics)/ M. Tech. (Electrical)/ PG Diploma in Hydro Power Plant Engineering from a recognized University / Institute of India with at least 55% marks in case of SC/ST/internal (HPPCL) candidates and 60% marks in case of other categories.
12. Assistant Officer (Executive Trainee- Relief & Rehabilitation) Class-I (on Contract basis): A passed of full time B.E. in Rural Engineering or equivalent or M. Phil (Sociology/ Social Work) with at least 55% marks. Preference shall be given to the candidates having R&R experience in hydropower sector.
13. Assistant Town Planner, Class-I (Gazetted) (on Contract basis): A passed of M. Tech.
