NOTIFICATION: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) inviting online applications for filling up various vacant posts of Stenographers (Group “B” Non-Gazetted ) and Stenographer Grade “D”(Group “C” Non-Gazetted) in Ministries/Departments of Central Government, including their Attached/Subordinate offices located in States and Union Territories all over the country from eligible and interested willing candidates. ABOUT: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is meant to make recruitment to (i) all Group “B” posts in the various Ministries/Departments of the Govt. of India and their Attached and Subordinate Offices which are in the pay scales the maximum of which is Rs.10,500 or below and (ii) all non-technical Group “C” posts in the various Ministries/Departments of the Govt. of India and their Attached and Subordinate Offices, except those posts which are specifically exempt from the purview of the Staff Selection Commission.

NO.OF POSTS: Various vacant posts of Stenographers Grade C & D through Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
Vacancies: Vacancies will be determined in due course and will be uploaded on the website of the commission after finalisation of vacancies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION: A passed of 12th or equivalent/12th Standard (Matriculation with HSC) or equivalent from any recognized Board or University.
PAY SCALE: Rs.9300-34800/-+Grade Pay Rs.4600/- for Group - C and Rs.5200-20200/-+ Grade Pay Rs.2400/- for Group – D.
REQUIRED AGE: 18 to 27 years as on 01-08-2016. (Candidates born not before 02-08-1989 and not later than 01-08-1998).
AGE RELAXATION: Relaxation in age is applicable for reserved category candidates as per Govt. Rules.
REQUIRED FEE: A non refundable Application Fee of Rs. 100/- by General & OBC candidates to be paid on-line through net banking/ debit card/ credit cards.
The Fee is exempted for all Women candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST, PWD and Ex-Servicemen eligible for reservation, as per Government orders.
POST RESERVATION: Reservation is applicable for Scheduled caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), Persons with Disabilities (PWD), Ex-Servicemen (ESM) candidates.
SELECTION PROCEDURE: Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in written examination and skill test in stenography.

1. Part I - Subject: General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 questions) - Max Marks – 50.
2. Part II - Subject: General Awareness (50 questions) - Max Marks – 50.
3. Part III- Subject: English Language and Comprehension (100 questions) - Max Marks – 100.
SSC STENOGRAPHER GRADE C&D EXAM SYLLABUS 2016 -
I - General Intelligence & Reasoning: It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate's abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.
II - General Awareness: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate's general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
III - English Language & Comprehension: In addition to the testing of candidate’s understanding of the English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. his/her writing ability, would also be tested.
SSC Steno Skill Test Pattern 2016 -
1. Stenographer Grade 'D': 50 minutes (English), 65 minutes (Hindi).
2. Stenographer Grade 'C': 40 minutes (English), 55 Minutes (Hindi).
EXAM DATE: 31-07-2016.
