बैंक खाता रखने वाले ज्यादातर ATM कार्ड का इस्तेमाल करते हैं। लेकिन एटीएम कार्ड का फायदा कभी भी पैसे निकालने का तो होता ही है, लेकिन इसका एक और फायदा आपको मिलता है जिसके बारे में बहुत ही कम लोग जानते होंगे। किसी भी सरकारी या गैर सरकारी बैंक का एटीएम आपके पास है तो आपका उस बैंक में अपने आप ही दुर्घटना बीमा हो गया है। आपका यह बीमा 25,000 रूपए से लेकर 5 लाख रूपए तक का होता है। यह योजना कई सालों पहले शुरू हो चुकी है, लेकिन अभी तक इसके बारे में 90 से 95 फीसदी को जानकारी नहीं, क्योंकि बैंक भी खुद ये जानकारी ग्राहकों को नहीं देते हैं।




यदि आपके पास साधारण एटीएम कार्ड तो अचानक से मृत्यु होने पर 1 लाख रूपए का तक का मुआवजा परिवार वालों को मिलेगा और अगर कार्ड मास्टरकार्ड है तो 2 लाख रूपए तक का मुआवजा। यदि आंशिक विकलांगता की सूची में एक हाथ या एक पैर खराब हो जाता है तो बैंक से 50,000 रूपए का मुआवजा मिलेगा। वहीं, दोनों हाथ या दोनों पैर खराब होने पर 1 लाख रूपए का मुआवजा एटीएम धारक को मिलता है।

मास्टर कार्ड धारक ग्राहक को 50 हजार रूपए का और क्लासिक एटीएम पर 1 लाख रूपए तक का बीमा होता है। सभी वीजा कार्ड पर 2 लाख रूपए का बीमा और मास्टर मित्र कार्ड पर 25 हजार रूपए का बीमा होता है। प्लैटिनम कार्ड पर 2 लाख रूपए और मास्टर प्लैटिनम कार्ड पर 5 लाख रूपए तक का बीमा आपको मिल सकता है।

आप बैंक में अपने एटीएम के बारे में जरूर पूछताछ करें और इस बात की जानकारी मांगे कि आपके एटीएम कार्ड पर आपको कितना बीमा मिला है। यदि बैंक इन्कार तो बताएं कि आपको सरकार द्वारा जारी इस योजना की पूरी जानकारी है। यदि किसी दुर्घटनावश एटीएम कार्ड धारक की मृत्यु हो जाती है तो कार्ड के टाइम के अनुसार मिलने वाली बीमा राशि की बैंक से मांग करें। यदि बैंक बैंक देने से मना करे तो कंज्यूमर फोरम में जाकर अपना हक ले सकते हैं। ज्यादातर बैंक ऐसा ही करते है कि ग्राहक को इस नियम की जानकारी देते और उसके बीमा की मिलने वाली राशि को दबा लेते हैं।

Banks provide free accidental insurance with ATM cards:     It is being claimed in a viral message on the social media that banks accord insurance to ATM card owners without any fee. 

What is the truth of the message?

It is being claimed that if a person has a bank account and uses an ATM card, he or she is entitled to accidental insurance extended by the bank without any fee.

It is being also claimed that if someone dies within 45 days of using the ATM card, his family can claim the insurance amount.

Here is the truth of the viral message. If you have a platinum card, you would be entitled to a sum of Rs. 2 Lakh. If you have a classic card or kisan debit card, you would get Rs. 50000/-. PNB ‘Mitra’ debit card holders are entitled to Rs. 25000/-.

According to the scheme, if a person dies in an accident, his family members would have to contact the bank within 2 to 5 months. They would have to file an application regarding this in the branch where the account is located.

Before paying the compensation, the bank would check whether any transaction happened in the last 45 days or not.

As soon as you open the account, banks provide the insurance cover.

1- Get Insurance up to Rs 10 Lakh:     Automated teller machine (ATM) card holders of both public and private sector banks are eligible for accidental hospitalisation cover and and accidental death cover by the card issuing bank. It ranges between Rs 50,000 to Rs 10 lakh. However, if at all you must avail the insurance amount; your bank passbook has to be operational. The insurance cannot be availed for inoperative account.

2- How to claim insurance:    Immediately inform the police after the accident and highlight everything properly.

In case of hospitalization, all the medical reports have to be submitted.

If it is a case of accidental death these things will be required to deposit- The post-mortem report, police  panchnama, Death certificate, Valid driving license.

Bank must be informed that the card holder has made transaction in last 90 days.

3- Unlimited transaction:      Though most of the private and public banks charge you for making five transactions, there are certain banks which offer you unlimited transactions on their home ATM. But, an SBI account holder can avail unlimited transactions. For this the account-holder must have a minimum balance of Rs. 25,000 his/her account. Ratnakar Bank limited also offers unlimited ATM transactions.

4- Cash deposit through ATM:         You can also deposit cash through ATM machine. Six Indian offer fund transfer facility through ATMs through a shared network called Mitr. Punjab National Bank, Indian Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Karur Vysya Bank, IndusInd Bank and UCO Bank, are part of the ATM sharing network, Mitr, with PNB as the settlement bank.
