NOTIFICATION       Indian Navy(Bhartiya Nausena), Government of India, Ministry of Defence inviting online applications for filling up 43 vacant posts of  Short Service Commission (SSC) in Executive Branch (Logistics & Law Cadres) and from unmarried eligible male candidates for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) for Information Technology and Permanent Commission (PC) in Education Branch in the Indian Navy for ‘Jul 2018 Course’ conducted at Indian Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala, Kerala from eligible and interested unmarried willing candidates. NO OF VACANCIES:     43 vacant posts of Short Service Commission Officers (SSC) and Permanent Commission Officer (in Education Branch) in Indian Navy.

1. Permanent Commission (PC) in Education:   20 posts.

2. Short Service Commission (SSC) in Logistics:   06 posts.

3. Short Service Commission (SSC) in Information Technology:   15 posts.

4. Short Service Commission (SSC) in Law Cadres:   02 posts.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:         As per details given below -.

1. Education Branch:        A passed of M.Sc. (Physics/ Nuclear Physics) with Maths in B. Sc or M.Sc. (Maths / Operational Research) with Physics in B. Sc or M.A. (English/ (History) or BE / B. Tech (Electronics & Communication/ Electrical & Electronics / Electronics & Instrumentation / Electronics & Telecommunications/Electrical Engineering) or BE / B. Tech (Mechanical Engineering) with minimum 60% marks from any recognized Institute/University.

2. Logistics Branch:       A passed of BE/B. Tech in any discipline/ B. Architecture with First Class or MBA with First Class or B. Sc / B.Com / B.Sc. (IT) with first class and a PG Diploma in Finance / Logistics / Supply Chain Management / Material Management or MCA / M. Sc (IT) with minimum 60% marks from any recognized Institute/University.

3. Information Technology Branch:       A passed of BE/ B. Tech (Computer Science / Computer Engg/ IT) or M. Sc (Computer/ IT) or B. Sc (IT) M. Tech (Computer Science) BCA/MCA with minimum 60% marks from any recognized Institute/University.

4. Law Branch:        A passed of Degree in Law qualifying with 55% marks for enrolment as an Advocate under ‘Advocates Act 1961’ from any recognized Institute/University.

PAY SCALE:       Rs. 15600-39100/-+ Grade Pay Rs. 5400/- + MSP Rs. 6000/- (Rs. 56100-110700/- Level 10 + MSP Rs. 15500/-) for Indian Navy Recruitment 2017 Short Service Commission Officer & Other Posts.

AGE LIMIT:     Candidate’s required age should be in between of 19 & 1/2 to 25 years (candidates to be born as per details given below –

1. Education:       Born Between 2nd July 1993 to 1st July 1997.

2. IT/ Logistics:     Born Between 2nd July 1993 to 1st January 1999.

3. Law:       Born Between 2nd July 1991 to 1st July 1996.

AGE RELAXATION:      As per Govt rules age relaxation is applicable for said post to all reserved category candidates.

REQUIRED APPLICATION FEE:    For said vacancy a non refundable application fee is to be paid by the candidates as per rules. There is no application fee for this recruitment.

Note:      Only unmarried candidates are eligible to undergo training. Any candidate found married or who marries while undergoing training will be discharged. He/She shall be liable to refund full pay and allowances drawn by him/her and other expenditure incurred on the candidate by the Government. They will be on probation for a period of two years which will commence from the date of grant of the rank of Sub Lt and will terminate after two years or on completion of initial training (whichever is later). During probation, they are liable to be discharged if their performance is unsatisfactory on professional/ medical/ disciplinary grounds. If an officer voluntarily withdraws from initial training, or resigns during the probationary period, he/she shall be required to refund the cost of training in whole or in part, as may be determined by the Govt and all money received by him/her as pay and allowances from the Govt together with the interests on the said money calculated at the rate enforced for Govt loans.

POST RESERVATION:      All reserved category candidates ie. SC/ ST/ OBC (as applicable) is being selected for said post/s as per existing Govt policy/rules.


SELECTION PROCESS:      Applicants who are screened for applicability/eligibility are being selected as per organization policy/rules depending on the basis of their performance in Medical Examinations and SSB Interview -

1. IHQ of MoD reserves the right to shortlist applications and to fix cut off/based on percentage of marks obtained in BE/B. Tech without assigning any reason. No communication will be entertained on this account. SSB interviews for shortlisted candidates will be scheduled at Bangalore/ Bhopal/ Coimbatore/Visakhapatnam during Dec 17 to Mar 18. Shortlisted candidates will be informed about their selection for SSB interview on their e-mail or through SMS (provided by candidates in their application form).

2. The total duration of SSB interviews is five days consisting of two Stages - Stage I (Day one) and Stage II (Four days). Stage I test consisting of Intelligence Test, Picture Perception and Discussion test will be conducted on the first day of arrival at SSB. Candidates who fail to qualify in Stage I will be routed back on the same day. Stage II tests comprising of Psychological testing, Group testing and Interview will last for 04 days. Successful candidates will thereafter undergo Medical Examination (approx duration 03-05 days).

3. Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit will be appointed for training as per All India Merit of SSB marks depending on the number of vacancies.

4. Change of SSB Centre for interview is not permissible under any circumstance.

5. Any correspondence regarding change of SSB dates is addressed to the call up officer of the SSB on receipt of call up letter. Candidates are to download the call up letter on receiving intimation from IHQMoD (Navy) at SMS/e-mail (provided by candidate in their application).

6. No compensation will be paid in respect of any injury sustained as a result of test during SSB interviews.

7. Return AC 3 tier/AC Chair Car rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview, if appearing for the first time for that type of commission on production of railway tickets. Candidates will carry photocopy of the first page of pass book or cheque leaf where the name, A/C No & IFSC details are mentioned, while appearing for SSB.

TRAINING:      Selected candidates will be inducted as officer in the rank of Sub Lieutenant. Their training is scheduled to commence in end Jun 18 at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala. Candidates will undergo 22 weeks of Naval Orientation Course at Indian Naval Academy followed by professional training at various Naval Training Establishments/ Units/ Ships. Full Pay and allowances are admissible to the Officers whilst undergoing training.
