AFACT is Air Force Common Admission Test conducted by Indian Force on National level. AFCAT is conducted twice in the year for the recruitment of Flying Branch, Technical Branch, and Ground Duty Staff under Indian Air Force. After the written test AFCAT Result aspirants are shortlisted based on the fixed AFCAT Cut Off for the further AFCAT Interview or personality test. The personality test will be conducted for 6 days with two stages of Intelligence Test, Psychological Test, Group Tasks and Personal Interview. For all the three branches in the Air Force, both men and women can apply. While for Women Short Service Commission is offered, for men both Short Service Commission and Permanent Service Commission are offered. An individual can have a maximum of 16 attempts (2 attempts per year) while a total of 8 attempts for AFCAT written and 8 attempts through fast track selection entry.

Ø Aspirants passed class of with minimum of 60% marks each in Maths & Physics at 10+2 level.

Ø Aspirants passed class of Graduates (3 year Course) in any discipline from a recognized University who have attained minimum 60% marks or equivalent OR BE/B Tech (Four Year Course) from a recognized university with minimum 60% marks or equivalent.

Ø Cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Ø Aspirants who are in Final Year students are also eligible to apply, provided they do not have any backlog at the time of AFSB Testing and produce Degree certificate issued by the University as per the date stipulated in the advertisement.

Ground Duty (Technical)
Aeronautical Engineering
Ø After completion of Engineering degree or while in your final year/ semester of Engineering.

Ø For both Men and Women. Permanent Commission (for men) / Short Service Commission (For men and women).

Ø Marks – Must have scored a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in any one of the listed disciplines.

Ø Final year students are eligible to apply provided they do not have any present backlog at the time of SSB testing and they produce provisional/ original degree issued by the University as per the date stipulated in the advertisement.

Ground Duty (Non-Technical)
Administration
Ø Aspirants passed class of Graduate Degree (Minimum 3 years Degree course) in any discipline from any recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Ø Aspirants passed class of Graduate Degree (Minimum 3 years Degree course) in any discipline from any recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Ø Aspirants passed class of B. Com Degree (Minimum 3 years Degree course) from any recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch)
Ø Aspirants passed class with minimum 60% marks in each in Maths & Physics at 10 + 2 level. Aspirants passed class of Graduate (3 years Course) in any discipline from any recognized University with minimum 60% marks or equivalent. OR

Ø Aspirants passed class of BE/B Tech (4 years Course) from any recognized University with minimum 60% marks or equivalent OR

Ø Cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Ø Aspirants passed class of NCC Air Wing Senior Division ’C’ certificate and validity of the certificate would be two years before the date of advertisement.

Aspirants who are studying in the final year/semester Degree course and are yet to pass the final year Degree examination can also apply provided candidate should not have any present backlog and should have secured a minimum of 60% marks up to the last semester/year for which results have been declared up to the time of submission of application.

Ø Flying Officer:  Rs. 56,100 – 1,10,700/- pm + allowances.
Ø Flight Cadets shall receive a fixed stipend of Rs 56,100/- per month during last one year of training.
AFCAT MEDICAL STANDARDS

AFCAT 2020 PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST
Ø Aspirants should aim to achieve an ability to run 01 miles (1.6 km) in 10 mins, do 10 pushups and 03 chin-ups.

Ø Prospective aspirants are also advised to keep themselves in good physical condition to adapt to physical training at AFA which encompasses running, swimming, rope climbing and other forms of physical training/ conditioning in which they would undergo mandatory tests during training.

Ø Stage-I – Officer Intelligence Rating Test along with Picture Perception and discussion test

Training will commence in the first week of January 2021 for all courses at Air Force Academy Dundigal (Hyderabad). The duration of training for Flying and Ground Duty (Technical) Branches is 74 weeks and that of Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches is 52 weeks at Air Force Training Establishments. Sc degree in English / Physics / Mathematics / Chemistry / Statistics / International relations / International studies / Defence studies / Psychology / Computer Science / IT /Management / Mass Communication / Journalism / Public Relation with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate all paper put together in Post- Graduation (Minimum 2 year programme) and 60% marks in graduation (both recognised by UGC / Competent Accreditation Authority).

4- NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch):       NCC Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ certificate acquired on or after 01 Jan 17 is mandatory. Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2. Graduates with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. OR BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent OR Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Physical and Medical Standards:    Guidelines with regard to physical and medical standards for candidates are as follows -

a. Candidates must be physically fit according to the prescribed physical standards.

b. Medical Examination will be conducted at AFCME, New Delhi or IAM, Bengaluru based on candidates recommended by the AFSB. Non-reporting of candidates on allotted date for medicals could lead to cancellation of candidature. Male candidates will undergo a medical examination by a Board of Service Medical Officers. Women candidates will undergo Medical Examination by a Medical Board comprising of male/ female doctors/ specialists/ Gynaecologist. There will be a Lady Medical Officer as Member of Board. Only those candidates will be admitted to the Academy who are declared fit by the Medical Board. However, the candidates declared unfit will be intimated by the President of the Medical Board and procedure for request for an Appeal Medical Board (AMB) will also be intimated to the candidate.

c. Candidates who are unfit may apply for AMB to be completed within 42 days of SMB and may request for Review Medical Board (RMB) within one day of completion of Appeal Medical Board. Candidates declared unfit by AMB will be intimated by the President AMB about procedure of challenging the findings of AMB. The candidates will also be intimated that holding RMB will be granted at the discretion of DGAFMS based on the merit of the case and that RMB is not a matter of right. The candidate should address the request for RMB if he/she so desires to DMS (MB)/DGMS (Air), Air HQ, R.K. Puram and a copy of the same is to be handed over to the President of AMB. The office of the DGAFMS will inform the date and place (Delhi and Pune only) where the candidate will appear for an RMB.

AGE LIMIT:      As on 01-01-2020 for AFCAT – 01/2019 Exam Notification -

1. Flying Branch through AFCAT and NCC Special Entry:        20 to 24 years as on 01 Jan 2020 i.e. born between 02 January 1996 to 01 January 2000 (both dates inclusive).Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 years i.e. born between 02 January 1994 to 01 January 2000 (both dates inclusive).

2. Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch:      20 to 26 years as on 01 Jan 2020 i.e born between 02 January 1994 to 01 January 2000 (both dates inclusive).

Marital Status:         Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried at the time of commencement of course. Widows/Widowers and divorcees (with or without encumbrances) below 25 years of age are also not eligible. A candidate who marries subsequent to the date of his application though successful at SSB or medical will not be eligible for training. A candidate who marries during the period of training shall be discharged and will be liable to refund all expenditure incurred on him by the Government. Married candidates above 25 years of age are eligible to apply but during training period they will neither be provided married accommodation nor can they live out with family.

AGE RELAXATION:    No relaxation in age for AFCAT 01/2019 Air Force Recruitment 2019-20 Flying & Technical and Non-Technical Branch Jobs.

PAY SCALE:    Rs.56100-110700/-+ MSP Rs. 15500/- and other applicable allowances –

a- Flying Branch:    Rs. 85,372/-.

b- Ground Duty (Tech) Branch:  Rs. 74,872/-.

c- Ground Duty (Non-tech) Branch:    Rs.  71,872/-.

Note:     Flight cadets shall receive a fixed stipend of Rs 56,100/- per month for the period of training.

Allowances:      In addition to pay, allowances are applicable based on nature of duty/ place of posting and includes Flying, Technical, Field Area, Special Compensatory (Hill area), Special Force, Siachen, Island Special Duty, Test Pilot & Flight Test Engineer, Area and Remote Locality Allowance.

Type of Commission:   As per details given below -

1- Permanent Commission (PC) for Men. Candidates joining as PC Officers would continue to serve till the age of superannuation in their respective branches as per their rank.

2- Short Service Commission (SSC) for Men & Women.

i. The engagement period for Flying Branch (Men and Women) SSC Officers is fourteen years from the date of Commissioning (Non extendable).

ii. The initial tenure for Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) SSC Officers would be for a period of ten years. An extension of four years may be granted subject to service requirements, availability of vacancies, willingness, suitability and merit.

APPLICATION FEES:         A non refundable application fee of Rs. 250/- is to be paid by all candidates through online mode during online apply.

No Application Fee is required from NCC special entry and Meteorology candidates.

RESERVATION:  No reservation is applicable for any candidate.

Physical Conditioning:      Prospective candidates are advised to keep themselves in good physical condition to adapt to physical training at AFA which encompasses running, swimming, rope climbing and other forms of physical training/conditioning in which they would undergo mandatory tests during training. Candidates are advised to keep themselves in good physical condition by following the under mentioned routine -

Running: up to 4 Km. in 15 minutes.

Skipping.

Push ups & Sit-ups: Minimum 20 each.

Chin ups: 08.

Rope Climbing: 3 to 4 metres.

Swimming (25 m).

AFCAT TRAINING:       Training is scheduled to commence in the first week of Jan 2020 for all courses. The approximate duration of training for Flying and Ground Duty (Technical) Branches is 74 weeks and that of Ground Duty (Non-technical) Branches is 52 weeks at Air Force Training Establishments.


AFCAT SELECTION PROCEDURE:        Candidates will be selected based on the performance in AFCAT Written Test & Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) (for candidates applied for technical branch only) followed by Intelligence Test, Psychological Test, Group Test, Medical Test and Interview conducted by Air Force Selection Boards (AFSBs). Candidates applying for Flying Branch must appear for CPSS (Computerized Pilot Selection System), Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT).
