In addition to the statutory stipend, Indian Oil Corporation Limited provides an extra amount of ₹2,500 per month towards miscellaneous expenses. The stipend amount varies according to the category of apprenticeship (Technician, Trade or Graduate) and is credited directly to the apprentice’s bank account every month. No Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance or other regular employee benefits are admissible during the apprenticeship period, as the engagement is purely for skill development and does not constitute regular employment. IOCL Marketing NR Apprentice detailed Selection Process
The selection process for IOCL Marketing Division NR Apprentice Recruitment 2026 is completely merit-based and does not involve any written examination, computer-based test or personal interview. This transparent method ensures that candidates are shortlisted solely on the basis of their academic performance in the prescribed qualifying examination.
In the first stage, IOCL prepares a state-wise and discipline-wise merit list by arranging candidates in descending order of the percentage of marks obtained in the relevant diploma, ITI, graduation or Class 12 examination. Where two or more candidates secure identical percentages, the candidate older in age is ranked higher. In case of further tie, the candidate who acquired the qualification earlier is given preference.
Shortlisted candidates are then called for Document Verification at designated centres. During this stage, original certificates relating to educational qualification, age, caste, disability (if applicable), Aadhaar, bank details and other supporting documents are scrutinised. Candidates who clear document verification proceed to the Pre-Engagement Medical Examination conducted as per IOCL’s prescribed medical standards. Only those found medically fit are issued the formal engagement letter and apprenticeship contract.
The entire process is designed to be objective and free from subjective evaluation, giving equal opportunity to every eligible applicant who has scored well in their qualifying studies.

IOCL Marketing NR Apprentice complete Exam Syllabus & Exam Pattern
Unlike conventional government recruitments, the IOCL Marketing Division Northern Region Apprentice engagement does not conduct any written examination, skill test or interview. Consequently, there is no traditional exam pattern, syllabus, number of questions, duration or negative marking scheme.
The sole criterion for shortlisting is the percentage of marks secured by the candidate in the qualifying examination relevant to the applied discipline. For Technician Apprentice posts, the percentage is calculated from the final aggregate of the three-year diploma. For Trade Apprentice (ITI) posts, the marks obtained in the ITI trade certificate are considered. For Graduate Apprentice posts, the overall percentage of the graduation degree is taken, and for Data Entry Operator posts, the Class 12 percentage forms the basis of the merit list.
Candidates are therefore advised to ensure that their mark sheets clearly reflect the aggregate percentage. In cases where only CGPA or grade points are awarded, the conversion formula prescribed by the respective university or board must be applied and a conversion certificate produced at the time of document verification. IOCL does not re-evaluate or re-calculate marks; the percentage entered by the candidate on the application portal is matched with the original documents.
Since selection rests entirely on academic merit, aspirants who have scored consistently high marks in their diploma, ITI or degree examinations stand a strong chance of being shortlisted. No additional coaching for any competitive exam is required, allowing candidates to focus on accurate online application and timely submission of documents.
