Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks. The degree can be either:- A three-year professional LLB course after graduation, or
- A five-year integrated LLB course after 10+2.
The degree must be obtained from a college or university recognized by the Bar Council of India. In addition, candidates must be eligible for registration as an advocate with the Bar Council of India or any State Bar Council.
A valid CLAT PG 2026 score (examination conducted in December 2025) is mandatory for every applicant. This includes candidates who have already completed LLM or are currently pursuing LLM. Scores from any other year of CLAT PG will not be accepted. Candidates who have appeared for CLAT PG 2026 but are awaiting results may also apply, subject to production of the scorecard at the time of shortlisting or SSB as required by the Army. Selected candidates undergo approximately 49 weeks of pre-commission training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, and receive a fixed stipend of ₹56,100 per month during the entire training period. Upon successful completion of training and grant of Short Service Commission, officers are commissioned in the rank of Lieutenant in Pay Level 10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission matrix, carrying a basic pay scale of ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500.
In addition to basic pay, officers are entitled to Military Service Pay (MSP) of ₹15,500, Dearness Allowance (DA) as revised from time to time, House Rent Allowance (HRA) or government accommodation, Transport Allowance, and other field-area or high-altitude allowances depending on posting. The approximate Cost to Company (CTC) in the initial years is estimated at ₹17–18 lakh per annum.
