Educational Qualification

All educational qualifications must be obtained from a University or Institution recognized by the Government of India. The cut-off date for determining eligibility is 1 August 2026. Candidates must possess the specific degree and post-qualification experience relevant to the post applied for.


For Manager (Branch Management – MMGS II), a Bachelor’s Degree (Graduation) in any discipline is required along with a minimum of three years of post-qualification experience as an Officer in any Scheduled Public Sector Bank or Scheduled Private Sector Bank, of which at least two years must be in Branch Banking. Experience as Scale-I Branch Head is preferred.


For Manager (IT – MMGS II), candidates need B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication or Electronics & Instrumentation, or MCA, or M.Sc. in Computer Science/IT, plus a minimum of five years of post-qualification IT experience including at least three years in Banking/BFSI environment with hands-on expertise in specified technology domains such as Full Stack Development, Microservices, DevOps, Operating System Administration, Network Administration, Cloud Engineering or Database Administration.


Manager (Information Security) and Manager (Information Systems Audit) require B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in relevant disciplines (Computer Science, IT, Electronics, Cyber Security or Information Security) with a minimum of two years of relevant experience in security testing, audit or related domains. Senior Manager posts in IT, Information Security, Database Administrator, Network Administrator and Cyber Security Administrator demand higher experience ranging from five to eight years in the respective specialized fields, with corresponding higher-level qualifications.


For Manager (Credit) and Senior Manager (Credit/Risk), qualifications such as MBA (Finance), PGDBA/PGDBM, CA, CMA or Master’s in Statistics/Economics along with relevant banking credit or risk management experience are prescribed. Assistant Manager (Security – JMGS I) requires Graduation plus specific service experience as a Retired Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) or equivalent in the Armed Forces with minimum five years in the rank of JCO, or equivalent rank of Inspector with five years’ service in Paramilitary Forces or Police (not below the rank of Inspector with five years as Sub-Inspector and above).


Age Limit and Relaxations

Age is calculated as on 1 August 2026. The minimum and maximum age limits vary by post:


  • Manager (Information Security) and Manager (Information Systems Audit): 22 to 32 years
  • Manager (Branch Management) and Manager (Credit): 23 to 33 years

Indian Overseas Bank Detailed Selection Process

The selection process for IOB Generalist/Specialist Officers 2026 comprises two main stages. The bank may conduct preliminary screening or shortlisting based on educational qualifications, post-qualification experience and overall profile before inviting candidates for the online examination.


Stage 1 is the Online Examination consisting of 100 objective-type questions carrying 100 marks with a total duration of two hours and separate sectional timings.
