SBI SCO Detailed Selection Process

The selection process for SBI Specialist Cadre Officers under Advertisement No. CRPD/SCO/2026-27/23 is designed to identify experienced professionals with strong domain knowledge and leadership potential. There is no written examination for these posts.

The process begins with shortlisting of applications. Mere fulfilment of the minimum educational qualification and experience criteria does not guarantee a call for interview. The Bank’s shortlisting committee will decide the parameters, weightage and number of candidates to be called based on the applications received and the number of vacancies.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for one or more rounds of personal, telephonic or video interview carrying a total of 100 marks. The qualifying marks for the interview will be decided by the Bank. During or after the interview stage, individual CTC negotiation will be conducted with the candidates.

The final merit list will be prepared solely on the basis of marks obtained in the interview, arranged in descending order. In case of a tie in interview scores, the candidate older in age will be ranked higher. Document verification and medical examination, if required, will be conducted for candidates provisionally selected. The Bank reserves the right to modify the selection process or cancel recruitment for any or all posts without assigning reasons.

SBI SCO Complete Exam Syllabus & Exam Pattern

Unlike many other bank recruitments, the SBI SCO Recruitment 2026 for Wealth Management Specialist Cadre Officers does not involve a written examination or online test. Selection is based entirely on shortlisting of applications followed by interview and CTC negotiation.

Candidates should therefore prepare thoroughly for the interview stage. The interview is expected to assess professional knowledge, domain expertise, leadership abilities, communication skills, client-handling experience, and understanding of wealth management products and processes. Typical areas of discussion may include:

  • Current trends in the Indian wealth management and private banking industry
  • Product knowledge of mutual funds, insurance, portfolio management services, structured products, and alternative investments
  • Regulatory framework governing wealth management and advisory services (including SEBI and RBI guidelines)
  • Experience in managing high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients
  • Team leadership, sales strategy, and performance management
  • Risk management, compliance, and ethical considerations in investment advisory
  • Knowledge of digital platforms and fintech solutions used in wealth management

Candidates are advised to keep their professional resume updated, prepare detailed examples of achievements with quantifiable results, and be ready to discuss career progression, reasons for applying to SBI, and expectations regarding CTC. Since the interview carries 100 marks and forms the sole basis of the merit list, thorough preparation and clarity of thought are essential.

No negative marking or objective-type pattern is applicable because there is no written test. The Bank may conduct more than one round of interview if required. Candidates called for interview will be informed of the exact mode (personal, telephonic or video) and schedule through the registered email address only.
